What format do you want the manuscript in?
Please send your manuscript in Word format, if possible. I use the “Track Changes” and “Comment” functions in Word, so you can see every change or suggestion I make. The document should also be in manuscript format (1 inch margins, double-spaced, 12 pt. font in either Courier or Times New Roman).
How long does it take you to complete a project?
It depends on the project. Generally, it takes me between two and three weeks, depending on the length of the project, the complexity, and how many projects I have taken on at that time.
Do I have to have my manuscript edited to have a chance at being published?
No, you don’t! Many times, editors at traditional publishing houses will be happy to work with a manuscript that is *almost* there, if they believe in the story’s potential. However, it is always best to submit as polished and professional of work as possible, and an editor can certainly help with that. If you are planning on self-publishing, then editing is even more important. You are competing against all the other books, including traditionally published books, and you make your work more competitive and compelling when it is professionally edited.
Will your work guarantee that I will be published?
Unfortunately, no. I will do my very best to help you tell your story in the most compelling way possible. However, I am not an acquiring editor or an agent, and much depends on an agent’s or acquiring editor’s taste and whether they feel the book is marketable at that time. Regardless, I will work to give your book the best chance of being published possible.
